What is volunteer computing? Hi there! Volunteer computing simply means donating the processing power of your computer or smartphone to help researchers. Instead of researchers having to buy or rent a supercomputer, they can get their calculations completed by distributing it out to a network of privately owned computers. Anyone can sign up and donate the processing power of their computer or smartphone. All you have to do is and download the program for the research project. The program that processes the research data allows you to customize how much processing power you would like to donate. I run the program all the time and save enough power for me to still use the computer while it simultaneously runs the research data program. There are a lot of projects available to participate in, and I suggest looking into some of these listed below :-) I participate in all of the listed projects and I have decided to share them based on my own personal interest in trying to better the world.
Below are my current BOINC computing stats. If you want to learn more about your own computing donations, you can go to this website: www.boincstats.com/
